2025-2026 Professor Emeritus John Edward Lillich Endowed Scholarship Program (Deadline: September 30, 2025)
Who Can Apply: John Edward Lillich was a World War II soldier and a POW survivor. After returning from the war, Lillich spent many years living in various cities across the United States, working as an engineer. Known to many as “Jack,” Lillich later chose to return to school to pursue a master’s degree, firmly believing that continued education is one of the best choices a person can make.
Upon becoming a professor at Purdue University, Lillich recognized the underrepresentation of women in engineering and actively worked to recruit and support them in the field. Today, David Heath Lillich is continuing these efforts through the Professor Emeritus John Edward Lillich Scholarship, which aims to ensure that women are well represented in engineering programs. This scholarship honors Lillich’s legacy by supporting a talented, dedicated, and driven student on their path to becoming a transformative leader through education.
