Nursing Scholarships and Healthcare Scholarships
Nursing scholarships and awards for those entering the healthcare field can be found if students search strategically. Apply SMART now!
Nursing and other healthcare careers are hot right now, and students are looking for scholarships to help pay for school and avoid debt.
In my searching, I have found that the best sources of nursing scholarships and healthcare scholarships are in your home state.
For example, the American Legion sponsors several scholarships for current and future nurses and healthcare professionals, but you must apply to your local chapter.
Just Google “American Legion nursing scholarship ,” and you should find the scholarship information for your state. When I went to the American Legion site for my state, I found several scholarships, and not just for future nurses. Yes!!
Remember, any time you can narrow down a scholarship to your own state, that automatically means FEWER students are applying (only students in your state and not the whole country are trying to win that scholarship) and a GREATER chance of winning for you.

Nurse Recruiter Nursing Scholarships
NurseRecruiter.com offers scholarships for nursing.
Goldman Babboni Fernandez & Walsh Scholarship
All students entering the healthcare field can apply for this scholarship.
Geraldine “Polly” Bednash Scholarship
This scholarship is for nursing students in bachelor’s or higher programs.
Killeen Chiropractic Scholarship
Open to students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in science, health, or nursing with future intent to join the medical field.
Open to students currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
Marsha’s Angels Scholarship Fund
Open to students living in Sedgwick County, Kansas or one of the surrounding counties to use the scholarship to attend an accredited nursing program anywhere in the United States. Those living elsewhere in the United States may use the scholarship to attend an accredited nursing program in Sedgwick County, Kansas or one of the surrounding counties or St. Luke’s College of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Missouri, Marsha’s alma mater.
Nursing students (applicants must be in an accredited program leading to initial licensure as an RN), baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral candidates with a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher are eligible for these scholarships.
WCI Medical School Scholarship (White Coat Investor)
This scholarship is open to undergraduate professional students enrolled full-time in a professional school located in the United States and who are in good academic standing. That means medicine, osteopathic medicine, podiatry, dentistry, law, pharmacy, optometry, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, CRNA, anesthesiologist assistant, or veterinarian. Also, physical therapy and occupational therapy students if the program leads to a doctorate degree. (No residents).
Dr. Felix Shepard Scholarship for Medical Students
Open to students pursuing a career in medicine (pre-med, biology, chemistry, public health, or related field). Applicants must demonstrate academic dedication, leadership, and a passion for healthcare. They must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at an accredited U.S. college or university.
NNCC Career Mobility Scholarships
The Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission® (NNCC®) offers career mobility scholarships for the following groups: Technicians and LPN/LVNs, Advanced Practice Nurses, Advanced Practice Nurses, and NKF (CDN and CNN).
Dr. Michael Lebow Scholarship for Future Doctors
Open to undergraduate students currently enrolled at an accredited college or university in the United States. Applicants must be aspiring medical professionals, including students pursuing pre-medical studies, nursing, or other healthcare-related fields.

GoodRx Healthcare Scholarships
There are several different scholarship opportunities for students in the healthcare field found here.
Open to U.S. students enrolled at an accredited high school, college, or university in the United States. Students must be in their final year of high school or enrolled at the undergraduate level in “good standing.” Open to students in all majors, but “Any student planning for a medical or veterinary career is especially encouraged to enter.”
March of Dimes Nursing Scholarships
Open to undergraduate nursing students with a passion for health equity and addressing the maternal health crisis. Qualified applicants must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate nursing program and have a commitment to working in maternal or infant health after graduation. For 2025, two awardees will be selected. There are also scholarships available to registered nurses enrolled in an accredited master’s or doctoral nursing program. Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to improving maternal and infant health outcomes and advancing health equity for all families.
Dr. Konstantinos Zarkadas Scholarship for Future Doctors
Open to students currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at an accredited U.S. college or university who are pursuing a pre-medical track or related major with the intention of attending medical school.
Future nurses qualify to apply for this scholarship, which is focused on students enrolled in medical, culinary, and aesthetics courses.
Dr. Omar Massoud Scholarship for Future Doctors
Open to students who are on an academic path toward becoming a physician (e.g., pre-med, biology, health sciences, or related fields). Applicants must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at an accredited university or college. They must demonstrate academic achievement, commitment to patient care, and future goals aligned with the medical profession.
Open to those who will be full-time students (enrolled in at least 12 credit hours) at a college or university in the United States and are currently enrolled as a nursing student or have received an acceptance letter to their school’s nursing program. This usually includes nursing students from current high school seniors to college juniors.
Heartfelt Dreams Foundation Nursing Scholarship
Open to a hospital-based cardiac care nurse or nursing student pursuing a career in cardiac care.
Emergency Nurse Association (ENA) Foundation Scholarships
The ENA Foundation offers academic scholarships available to members and non-members seeking to further their education with degrees ranging from associate’s to doctoral degrees, as well as conference scholarships for members interested in attending ENA’s annual education and networking conference.
