Athletic Scholarship for College from BigSun
This athletic scholarship is open to ANY student-athlete and is NOT based on performance!
When students are trying to win an athletic scholarshipthe ones that they find are normally awarded based on talent.
These scholarships are a result of being recruited for a particular sport.
Today I have an athletic scholarship that is NOT based on how strong students are in their sport or their success on the playing field.
It is the BigSun Scholarship that awards students based on their participation in sports and how they were positively influenced.
The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. In order to do our part we are offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All student athletes are eligible regardless of the sport they are engaged in or the capacity in which they participate. The student must be a high school senior or be attending a post secondary institute.
BigSun Athletic Scholarship Details:
- $500 Award
- Amount of scholarships awarded varies each year
- Open to all athletes who are in college or seniors in high school
- Students from any sport may apply
- NO financial need required
- NO minimum GPA
- One essay of 500 to 1000 words required
- Deadline: June 19
Essay Details:
Students need to answer three questions in the 500-1000 essay response.
How did your participation in sports during your high school years influence you?
Has your participation influenced your career goals?
Has your participation influenced how you relate to your family?
Winning Tips: Students need to read BigSun’s mission statement very carefully and think about it as they answer the essay questions.
The Big Sun Athletic Organization is dedicated to providing an opportunity for young athletes to learn and to excel. We are developing programs in all sports in our community in an effort to keep our children motivated, healthy and to teach them the value of teamwork.
Since this athletic scholarship is not based on performance, lessons learned and wisdom gained from participating in sports should be the main focus of the essay. Students need to share personal details and true experiences to allow the judges to get to know them on a deeper level.
