The Challenge
We are hiring 2 skilled Automotive/Heavy Equipment Mechanic II’s to join our New Bern Equipment team.
 
In this role you will:
Service, repair, rebuild and diagnose mechanical systems for gas/diesel-powered automotive, heavy equipment, and power tools.Perform skilled mechanical work, including:Preventive maintenanceBrakes (air & hydraulics)SteeringTires and tubesWheelsRims and hubsTransmission (auto and manual)Charging systemCranking systemIgnition systemLighting systemCooling systemExhaust system
 
What You Bring
Skills to repair and maintain automotive/heavy equipment and diagnose problems using diagnostic equipment.Experience performing preventive maintenance on 1+ of the following: light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, and heavy equipment.Knowledge of basic welding principles and application.Experience diagnosing basic electrical systems and proper wiring repair.Experience in basic hydraulic system repairs, including component replacement and hoses.Computer experience to obtain diagnostic and repair information.A Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement. (Don’t have it?  Still Apply!  You can earn it through our on-the-job training program within 360 days of hire).Ability to prepare paperwork for equipment repairs and employment.Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.Strength to move parts and materials necessary to repair and maintain equipment.Able to safely operate equipment for testing purposes.Able to work indoors and outdoors.Commitment to a safe working environment by leading by example.Skills to read and interpret Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals.Able to read schematics, diagrams, and sketches.Strength to move relatively heavy objects.Ability to work in emergency situations and bad weather.Driving skills to operate a fuel truck.Experience performing preventive maintenance on light, medium, heavy duty trucks, or heavy equipment.Safety toe shoes.
 
Notes
We will conduct a pre-employment drug screening and will conduct a background check for your past 3 years for controlled substances and alcohol testing.We may require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III, or Universal Technician.
 
Education & Experience
High School/GED diploma, and2+ years of relevant experience, orAn equivalent combination of education and experience.
