Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the 2025 Central South University Silk Road Scholarship:

1. Nationality: Non-Chinese citizens.
2. Education: Excellent academic record.
3. Health: Good physical and mental health, no criminal record.
4. Age limit: Under 35 (Master’s), under 40 (PhD).
5. Language proficiency:
6. Chinese-taught: HSK Level 4 (minimum 180; 260 preferred).
7. English-taught: IELTS ≥ 6 or TOEFL ≥ 85.
8. Exemptions available for native speakers or graduates of Chinese/English-taught programs.
9. Must not hold any other scholarship.
10. Research excellence and innovative potential.

Application Procedure

Step 1: Apply to CSU Online System

1. Register at CSU International Student Portal.
2. Select Chinese Government Scholarship.

Step 2: Apply to CSC Online System

1. Visit CSC Online Application.
2. Select Type B and use Agency Number: 10533.

Required Documents

1. Passport copy
2. Degree certificates and transcripts
3. Language proficiency certificates
4. Study proposal (min. 1,000 words)
5. Acceptance letter from a CSU professor
6. Physical examination form
7. Non-criminal record certificate
8. Two recommendation letters
9. 1-minute personal statement video
10. Declaration of no other funding
11. Additional supporting documents (CV, research, awards)

Note: All documents must be clear, authentic, and preferably scanned professionally.

Step 3: Pay the Application Fee

1. CNY 500 (payable after passing initial review)

Step 4: Academic and Final Review

1. CSU evaluates your academic background and research potential.
2. Final results will be communicated via CSC and CSU online systems.

Step 5: Admission and Visa

1. Admission letters and visa forms will be issued by July 31, 2025.
2. Registration begins September 2025.
